Colorado Department of Agriculture
The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) supports farmers and ranchers in managing their land and animals in a way that creates climate benefits. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, capturing carbon in the soil, increasing water efficiency, and improving air and water quality.
Key initiatives include:
- The Agricultural Drought and Climate Resilience Office, which leads CDA's climate policy and planning efforts, as well as the department's energy, soil, and climate programs.
- ACRE3 program, which helps farmers and ranchers increase their energy efficiency and implement renewable energy technologies in their agricultural enterprises.
- STAR soil health program, which assists farmers and ranchers in managing healthy soils.
Colorado State Conservation Board
Colorado State Conservation Board (CSCB) has Conservation District representatives from Colorado’s 10 watersheds. It provides guidance to the Department of Agriculture on a variety of subjects including state grants, training tools, and conservation programs.
Noxious Weed Advisory Committee
Colorado Noxious Weed Advisory Committee’s primary responsibility is to address Colorado’s weed management challenges, including increase of noxious weeds due to climate change, and to craft solutions that best reflect public and private interests.
